Well, don't that beat all? Warner Bros, in their infinite wisdom, have decided to push back the theatrical release of HBP to 17th July, 2009, instead of 21st November this year.
In an
announcement last week, Warner Bros basically admitted that they want more money from the cash cow that is the HP franchise. It's all about WB wanting to capture the summer film market and the 'change in the competative landscape for 2009' since the writer's strike left holes in the summer holiday blockbuster programming. In other words, 'we want to make more money'. And then, more hi-res images (
here and
here) from the film are 'found online' (read: WB trying to placate the multitudes), making me want to see it even more. Bastards.
To say that I'm disappointed is an understatement, but it's not like the world will end because HP was delayed by
eight months. We're supposed to be consoled with the idea that by releasing HBP later, there will be less time to wait until the two part of DH, but I'm not buying it.
